چکیده
Abstract The ring-necked parakeet Psittacula krameri (Aves: Psittaciformes) is a widely distributed species of Asian and African origin, which occurs with over 40 alien populations in the rest world. Most established this are showing clear trend territorial expansion numerical growth. Recent reviews highlighted that one main impacts by parakeets competition threatened bat using trunk cavities as roosts. In Italy, only known reproductive population Nyctalus bats (Mammalia: Chiroptera) an urban area central part country, surrounded increasing expanding parakeets. work, we updated status both Alexandrine breeding noctule region. Then, ran distribution model Maxent software to analyze environmental suitability region for connectivity Circuitscape predict possibility its occupied bats. We recorded high number individual colonies, together remarkable decline, from about 400 120 individuals, last 20 years, possibly due green management practices. Although some have already been observed study area, there no evidence reproduction surroundings colony. However, our showed noctules. As well, potential direct flow individuals centers used arrival colony should be tightly monitored surveying suitable areas bird, well identified ecological corridors. Early detection new invasions, sustainable practice, may prevent extinction southernmost common noctule.

Habitat preference and activity of the noctule bat Nyctalus noctula in the Białowieża Primeval Forest
The echolocation calls of the noctule bat Nyctalus noctula (Schreber, 1774) were recorded at night, from June to August 1991, using a QMC S200 bat detector, in 5 habitats (river, forest-meadow ecotone, village, coniferous forest, deciduous forest) of the Białowieża Primeval Forest (eastern Poland). Two main kinds of signals were identified: search calls and feeding buzzes. Acoustic activity was...
متن کاملThe sensory basis of roost finding in a forest bat, Nyctalus noctula.
Tree cavities are a critical resource for most forest-dwelling bats. Yet, it is not known how bats search for new sites and, in particular, find entrances to cavities. Here, we evaluated the importance of different sensory channels for the detection of tree roosts by the noctule bat Nyctalus noctula. Specifically, we tested the role of three non-social cues (echo information, visual information...

The occurrence of the ctenophore Mnemiopsis leidyi as a new invasive species in the Baltic Sea and the potential consequences for fish stock recruitment was investigated in spring 2007. The study focused on the Bornholm Basin, which serves as the major spawning ground for cod and sprat, the commercially most important fish stocks in the Baltic. The distribution pattern of M. leidyi revealed a s...

Despite the growing amount of legislation being adopted at the global scale, biological invasions continue to grow at a rapid rate, with no indication yet of any saturation effect. Decision-making in this area is very challenging. The overall complexity of the problem, its interdisciplinarity, the scientific uncertainties and the large number of stakeholders that need to be informed and involve...
